Great Smoky Mountains National Park : GSMNP has served as a spiritual retreat for me since 1997 when I moved back to Ohio from Washington State. I was just starting out in photography and the thought of moving from the Pacific Northwest to the Midwest made me wonder what would happen to my desire to become a good landscape photographer. Well, GSMNP has proven to be a great solution to that dilemma over the past 10 years. I have spent a lot of time in the Smokies honing my skills as a photographer and learning the nuances of this diverse ecosystem. I hope the images in this gallery portray my love and appreciation for one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

Avian : Bird photography is one of those things that has just kind of grown on me over the years. I would have never thought that I would come to enjoy photographing birds nearly as much as I have. They are a very difficult subject to photograph but when done with good technique can become beautiful art. I spend a lot of time in the field, especially during my annual trip to Florida, pursuing all types of birds. I hope you enjoy this gallery of some of nature's avian friends.
